History
After the arrival of the Portuguese, several churches were established for the Christian communities. Simultaneously schools were also established in the vicinity of the parish churches for the welfare of the neighbouring people. St Lawrence’s Upper Primary school was established in Edakochi which is known for its quite and serene beauty and lies in the border of Ernakulam and Alappuzha districts. The school functioned in the premises of the parish church. Thereafter a well-known family called Kalapurakal Family built the present school building and handed over to the parish. Msgr Lawrence Puliyanath, the servant of God worked tirelessly for the progress of the school. In 1917, the school started functioning as a Lower Primary school, which later was upgraded to an Upper Primary school in 1949. The first headmaster of the school was Mr Muthukrishna Pillai.
